MerseyLibraries.org is a website sponsored and maintained by the Libraries Together: Liverpool Learning Partnership and Merseyside Libraries Public Partnership with support from The British Library's Co-operation and Partnership Programme (CPP), the Library and Information Cooperation Council, and the People's Network Excellence Fund.
Its aims are:

  • To provide a web-searchable interface for all the libraries in the Merseyside region.
  • To publicize and promote the collections of Merseyside.
  • To highlight the benefits of cooperative activity for regional libraries.
  • To bring together information about library, archives, and information services.
  • To provide a platform for the implementation of cutting edge technologies in libraries and archive repositories.

The service hosts the catalogues from all of the region's major libraries:

  • Liverpool Libraries and Information Services
  • The University of Liverpool Library
  • Liverpool John Moores University
  • Liverpool Hope University College
  • Wirral Libraries
  • Halton Libraries
  • Sefton Libraries
  • Warrington Libraries
  • Liverpool Community College
  • Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts
  • Liverpool and Merseyside Record Offices

Extent: Please note that at present only a proportion of the catalogues of Liverpool Record Office and Merseyside Record Office are included on MerseyLibraries. Please contact the Record Office for further information if your search is unsuccessful.

Access: Under the LT:LLP agreement a registered reader at any of the member libraries has access rights to other libraries within the Partnership. To gain access a reader must show an ID card to library staff.

MerseyLibraries.org was launched at the Libraries Together: Liverpool Learning Partnership conference in June 2002 and is a service hosted by Liverpool Libraries and Information Services.

MerseyLibraries.org uses the Cheshire Information Retrieval system to give access to the region's distributed collections using the Z39.50 protocol. The technologies driving the project have resulted in an efficient and effective means of accessing library resources for all of Merseyside's residents.
